Who I Am

In May of 2017, I completed my Ph.D. in cultural and educational policy studies at Loyola University Chicago. I also hold an Ed.M. in technology in education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. My dissertation research focused on the relationship between changing conceptualizations of illness and wellness and (late 19th to early 21st C.) North American parenting, pedagogy, and education policy with an emphasis on social and emotional learning. I have extensive undergraduate- and graduate-level teaching experience in the foundations of education. Prior to joining Concordia University Chicago as a Visiting Associate Professor of Curriculum and Instruction, I taught grades 5-8 Reading, English, Social Studies, Science, and Religion at St. Paul Lutheran Church & School in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood. I also have experience in instructional coaching, study abroad, and education outreach.
